How AI search engines actually pick sources
After auditing hundreds of AI Overview citations across UAE SERPs, the pattern is consistent. AI engines reward content that:
- Answers the literal question in the first 60 words — clean, declarative, no fluff intro.
- Has machine-readable structure — proper headings, lists, tables, FAQ schema.
- Cites authoritative entities — links to Wikipedia, government sites, academic sources.
- Carries strong E-E-A-T signals — author bio, dates, credentials, original data.
- Uses both languages with proper hreflang — AI engines now actively look for Arabic-native content for UAE queries.

Every page that targets an AI-search query must follow this skeleton:

Arabic AI search has quirks English doesn't:
- Diacritics in headings hurt — use clean Arabic without tashkeel.
- Synonyms matter more — "تصليح" / "إصلاح" / "صيانة" all map to "repair". Mention all three within 100 words of each other.
- Numerals — use Arabic-Indic (٠١٢٣) for visible text but Western (0123) inside schema.
- Sentence length — Arabic AI tokenizers handle 12–18 word sentences best. Long sentences get truncated mid-citation.

E-E-A-T in 2026 — what AI engines actually look for
Generic "we are experts" pages don't work anymore. AI engines look for:
- Author bio with real photo, real LinkedIn, real credentials.
- Original research — your own data, charts, screenshots.
- Dated content with
dateModifiedupdated at least quarterly. - External authority signals — your name mentioned on news sites, government sites, academic sources.

The AI-search 60-day sprint
Days 1–14 — Audit current pages. Rewrite top-10 pages with answer-first leads. Add full schema stack. Days 15–30 — Publish 5 new bilingual pillar pages (EN + AR), each targeting a specific AI-search query cluster. Add author bios with E-E-A-T signals. Days 31–45 — Build 5 authoritative backlinks (Khaleej Times, Gulf News, government .ae sites). Submit to Bing Webmaster (ChatGPT search uses Bing). Days 46–60 — Measure citations using Google Search Console "AI Overviews" filter (UAE just got beta access), Perplexity referrer logs, and brand-mention monitoring.
What to measure
